San Vito lo Capo sea

The beach is certainly the main reason why tourists come to holiday in San Vito lo Capo. The waters are transparent, and the sea is calm, protected by its bay. The beach of San Vito Lo Capo seems to be held in an embrace. On one side its white houses, on the other the promontory of Monte Monaco.

San Vito lo Capo what to see

There are numerous beautiful beaches and bays near San Vito. The Bay of Santa Margherita located between San Vito and Macari offers an uncontaminated spectacle. The Bue Marino cove it is a completely special corner, elected the most beautiful bay in Italy in 2015. The Belvedere of Macari, absolutely fantastic at sunset. Macari became known thanks to the TV series, but always beautiful from before. The Tonnara del Secco, dating back to 1411, and definitively abandoned in 1965. Only the remains of this tuna factory remain, but always very fascinating.

In the center of San Vito lo Capo we find the Fortezza Sanctuary, built around the Chapel of San Vito. For this reason it can be called a Fortress Sanctuary, because the fortress served as a defense for pirates. This building is located in the main square of the town, Piazza Santuario.

The main street, the busiest, which leads to the sea, is Via Savoia, very crowded in the evening. During the day with its shops for shopping, in the evening with its bars and restaurants. Musicians and street artists perform during the summer evenings among colorful and original stalls.

Finally we have the Lighthouse of San Vito lo Capo, in operation since 1959, which illuminates the entire bay. A very romantic place to take a nice walk, under its 43 meter high tower.
